Dori Bova, New Associate

KMA is happy to announce the promotion of senior architect Dori Bova, AIA, CPHD, to associate.

Dori’s career in architecture was foretold as early as the 6th grade when she and friends designed a private neighborhood club on a nearby swath of vacant property, complete with pools, thatch-roofed cabanas, and a wooded path to secret meeting places. She was somewhat disappointed when her father declined to finance the project. Years later, after a tour through studies in journalism and fine arts at Douglass College, she rediscovered her passion for designing the world around us and eventually graduated with a Bachelor of Science in architecture from Penn State University. From there, the school of life has been her teacher and she has never stopped being curious about how buildings go together and how our lives shape and are shaped by the built environment.

Not one to be pigeonholed (or alternatively, completely indecisive), her career has covered a wide variety of project types and scales, from a single-family home to a Vegas mega-resort.

An early love of old buildings, the history behind them, and the restoration work to save them was suspended to pursue other opportunities over the years. Joining KMA in 2015 to take on a historic rehabilitation project has felt like a full-circle moment.

She has yet to realize her dream of a private neighborhood club, complete with pools, thatch-roofed cabanas, and a wooded path to secret meeting places.
