Four months after opening, Pizzeria Salvy garnered a rave review by Inquirer food critic Craig LaBan for its food, ambiance, and service. Although KMA cannot claim credit for the food or service, we are quite excited about how the design elements combine to create a warm and comfortable environment in which to showcase the venue’s culinary prowess. We speak from experience, both as architect of record for the project, and as customers at a recent company field trip.

A group of people sit around a restaurant table enjoying food and drinks, talking and smiling. Plates with pizza and drinks are on the table, set in an inviting space that showcases thoughtful interior design and a lively, friendly atmosphere.

The focal point of the 2,228-square-foot restaurant, which is named after Vetri’s father, Salvatore, is the Marra Forni brick oven, which took five days to assemble on site. Watch the build on Pizzeria Salvy’s Instagram page here.

Seating for about 40 is provided at tables and counters. The plaster finish on walls and columns was hand-painted to look like leather.

A modern, well-lit restaurant with stylish interior design features wooden tables and chairs neatly arranged. Place settings await guests. Tihany Design, which specializes in luxury hospitality venues, was hired by Comcast to provide interior design services. They also designed the custom terrazzo floor, which was interpreted by Roman Mosaic & Tile. Combining artistic license and humor with theme, Roman incorporated a slice of pizza, an arrow pointing to the bar, a mushroom, the state of Texas, Italy, and a few other things. Can you spot them? KMA literally had a hand in the outcome too, with two staff members contributing by breaking and laying the large pieces of marble in the terrazzo.

Marble terrazzo flooring with large, irregularly shaped pieces in green, beige, dark purple, and brown on an off-white background—an inviting choice for educational or civic spaces. Some chair legs are partially visible.

Close collaboration between Comcast, Marc Vetri, Tihany Design, KMA and our team of Bala Consulting Engineers for MEP and ALD for lighting design, and general contractor CraftSource, Inc., was essential to the realization of the project vision within set budget and schedule parameters.

If all this has made you hungry for excellent pizza, or you want to know more about Pizzeria Salvy in their own words, check out their website here and stop by if you’re in the neighborhood.
