Architectural Designer
Nyasha Felder
Nyasha has a uniquely multidisciplinary background in architecture, landscape architecture, user experience/user interface design, and education. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, she holds a Bachelor of Science in architecture from Morgan State University and dual master's degrees in architecture and landscape architecture from the University of Pennsylvania's Weitzman School of Design.
Her previous work at design firms integrated environmental and social justice through concepts rooted in Afro-futurism, ecological architecture, landscape resilience, and active community engagement. She brings a deep understanding of spatial and interaction design to her practice, striving to create inclusive, user-centered environments that promote equity and accessibility.
Nyasha is particularly skilled at synthesizing complex information and multivariable data into elegant, comprehensible design solutions. Her technical toolkit includes ArcGIS, Rhino 3D/Grasshopper, and prototyping tools, all supporting her process-driven approach to design challenges.
Her tenure as an instructor at Drexel University and previous role as an adjunct professor at Thomas Jefferson University underscore Nyasha's commitment to immersive learning experiences that foster critical thinking and creativity. Her design studios emphasize direct engagement with end users and stakeholders, geospatial analysis, and the development of programmatic -and pragmatic - solutions, consistently earning positive feedback from students.
At KMA, she contributes to a range of projects, including community-based work with the Philadelphia Water Department. Her daily focus includes design, documentation, visualization, and client engagement - all while advancing her passion for positive environmental impact across Philadelphia's neighborhoods.
Outside the office, Nyasha enjoys volunteering in community urban gardens, practicing martial arts, and spending time outdoors with her active dog. Her empathetic and inquisitive nature continues to guide her pursuit of thoughtful, transformative design.
