Reading Terminal Market Philadelphia PA The historic Reading Terminal Market (78,000 SF) began to operate in the space beneath the Reading Railroad train shed in 1891. In the early 1990s when the empty train shed became the Grand Entry Hall to the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Kelly/Maiello was responsible for design of the market's modernization. The charge was to protect the market's historic atmosphere and heterogeneous mix, design logistics for an intricate series of 70 merchant relocations, modernize all building systems, minimize the impact of the Convention Center construction on the market, and enable the merchants to remain open for business throughout construction. |
